Hauptthemen der "Arbeitsgruppe 1 - Bildung" sind "Übergang Schule - Beruf" und "Berufliche Bildung". Als Tagungsort ist das Kniestedter Herrenhaus in Salzgitter-Bad vorgesehen.
Erwartet werden je nach Anmeldung 25 bis 30 Personen aus verschiedenen europäischen Städten. Anmeldungen sind für die Vertreter der Städte bis zum 14. Juni möglich. Bis 23. Juni werden dann postalisch die Teilnehmerunterlagen versendet.
Insgesamt gibt es bei dem Städtenetzwerk sieben Arbeitsgruppen: Bildung, Wohnen und Freiraum, Gesundheit, Vereinbarkeit von Familie und Beruf, Miteinander von Jung und Alt, Partizipation sowie Verkehr und Sicherheit.
Gegründet hat sich "Städte für Kinder" auf Initiative der Stadt Stuttgart im Juni 2007. Unterstützt von der Robert-Bosch-Stiftung bietet das Netzwerk europäischen Städten die Gelegenheit sich über nationale Grenzen hinweg auszutauschen und gemeinsam neue Konzepte zu entwickeln, um das Wohlergehen von Kindern, Jugendlichen und Familien in ihrem unmittelbaren Lebensumfeld zu fördern.

There is a workshop of the European Network 'Cities for Children' taking place in the city of Salzgitter from 08 to 10 September 2010.
The main topics of task group 1 will cover 'The Transition from School to Job' and 'Vocational Training'. The 'Kniestedter Herrenhaus" in Salzgitter-Bad is scheduled as the venue.
According to registration 25 to 30 participants from several European cities will be expected to join. Registrations for the delegates of the cities participating will be possible by 14 June 2010. All details pertinent to participants will then be forwarded by post.
The city network will encompass seven task groups in total: Education, living and open space, health, compatibility of family and job, young and old together, participation as well as traffic and safety.
'Cities for Children' was initiated by the city of Stuttgart in June 2007. Supported by the Robert-Bosch-Foundation, the network offers European cities and towns the chance to swap ideas transnationally thus jointly developing new concepts in order to foster well-being of children, teenagers and families in their actual living environment.
