Major Book Re-spinning Event at the City Library in Salzgitter-Bad

The local public library in Salzgitter-Bad has been reorganized and is now open to readers there.

A New Layout, the Same Variety: The City Library team presents the results of the reorganization.

Starting Tuesday, July 7, readers will find all novels—except those in the fantasy, historical, and large-print sections—arranged in alphabetical order on the ground floor. The board games have also been rearranged there, and the “Library of Things” collection has been given a prominent spot. In addition, the shelves containing books for young adults have been moved to a more prominent location for visitors.

The crime fiction section remains on the upper floor, along with novels in the fantasy, historical fiction, and large-print categories.

“With this reorganization, novels are now also arranged alphabetically at the Salzgitter-Bad City Library. The subcategories—such as romance, family, society, light reading, and classics—have been eliminated, so that all books by a single author can now be found right next to one another,” explains Sylvia Fiedler, director of the Salzgitter City Library. “The new arrangement of the media follows the standardized system used in all three branches and aims to bring all genres of fiction back into focus for readers.”

The regular staff at the Salzgitter-Bad City Library are, as always, friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful in assisting visitors to find their favorite books. “There will certainly be puzzled looks and questions when the books and other media are no longer all in their usual places,” say Claudia Schulz and Dennis Marggraf from the Bad team with certainty. “But the changes will certainly be accepted quite quickly and won’t dampen the joy of reading—because one thing remains the same: the diversity of what’s on offer.”

In addition to fiction and exciting reads, this includes audiobooks, movies, games, and items from the “Library of Things.” The children’s library offers books for various reading levels, Tonies, movies, and audiobooks for the youngest readers.
