Description
Description
Adult education includes evening high schools and college preparatory schools. To attend an evening high school or a Kolleg, a person must be at least nineteen years old, be able to demonstrate completion of vocational training or at least three years of professional experience, and have earned a secondary school diploma (Realschulabschluss). If proof of a secondary school diploma cannot be provided, students must first attend and successfully complete a preparatory course.
The program at the evening high school and the Kolleg lasts three years. The goal of the program is to earn the general university entrance qualification. The Abitur exam is administered according to the same procedures as at a Gymnasium. It is also possible to earn the academic portion of the Fachhochschulreife (qualification for admission to universities of applied sciences).
