An "Urban Development Day" was held to give the residents of the neighborhood an insight into what the redesign should look like. In addition to the district management of the city of Salzgitter, the Steterburg elementary school, various family centers, the planning landscape architects and the advisory board for people with disabilities were on site.
The advisory board presented itself with a wheelchair course where interested parties could obtain a wheelchair driving license, a small information stand and a wheel of fortune for the young residents of the neighbourhood.
Hans-Werner-Eisfeld (Chairman of the Advisory Board), Brigitte Sontowski (Deputy Chairwoman), Karl-Heinz Mull and Dirk Kontny (both members of the Advisory Board) were on hand to answer questions about disability and accessibility.
In this context, the Advisory Board for People with Disabilities was also involved in the planning of the redesign of the forecourt of Steterburg Primary School. Hans-Werner Eisfeld expressly praises the excellent cooperation with the landscape architects and the "Urban Redevelopment and Social City Department". This made it possible to achieve the best possible design for all sections of the population in the short planning period.
The interests of the various groups of disabled people are reflected in the design of the square. There will be a guidance system for the visually impaired and blind as well as play equipment and ramps for people with limited mobility.
