Salzgitter

March is going to be murderous...

The Salzgitter City Library is starting the new year with exciting reads. Once again this year, popular and well-known authors will be guests in the "Murderous in March" series.

March is going to be murderous...

Things get murderous on the peaceful island of Pellworm...

"Wadden Sea blood"

Katja Lund and Markus Stephan will present"Wattenmeerblut" in a staged reading on Friday, March 7, 2025, from 6.30 p.m., in the Lebenstedt City Library, marking the start of this year's crime series.

Ever since Katja Lund met police officer Markus Stephan on Pellworm, the two have been writing humorous crime novels set on the North Frisian island together.

Wattenmeerblut" is about a murderous double whammy on the peaceful island of Pellworm. Of all people, self-appointed auxiliary policeman Tamme Hansen finds a dead woman, impaled on a farm tractor fork. Island policeman Jan Benden once again finds himself confronted with murder, which is exactly what he wanted to leave behind him on the island. But that's not all, a mysterious key opens the door, so to speak, to a story from the Second World War. "Wadden Sea Blood" is the fourth volume in the Island Policeman series, with which the author duo Lund / Stephan have been celebrating success since the first volume.

Roland Lange and Dirk Heimberg present "Harzgeier & Crime Melodies".

"Harz Vultures & Crime Melodies

It continues in an exciting and entertaining way - but then in the Harz Mountains. "Harzgeier & Crime Melodies" is the name of the game on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 6.30 pm, in the Salzgitter-Bad City Library, when Roland Lange and Dirk Heimberg are guests.

Author Roland Lange will be reading from his gripping crime novel "Harzgeier", the fifth volume in his series about private investigator Stefan Blume, and promises nerve-wracking suspense. The reading will be musically accompanied by Dirk Heimberg, guitarist of the band "Front Porch Picking", who will perfectly capture the dark mood of the stories with atmospheric (crime) melodies on the electric guitar.

Investigating in Salzgitter in March: Peter Jackob and Peter Metzdorf.

"Among commissioners - reality meets fiction"

A somewhat different evening of crime fiction awaits the audience under the heading "Unter Kommissaren - Realität trifft auf Fiktion". On Friday, March 21, 2025, in the Lebenstedt City Library, author Peter Jackob and detective Peter Metzdorf will present a pointed and entertaining reading evening.

The Jackob-Metzdorf duo will be reading from their own crime novels and in the discussion rounds, questions about crime writing and real police work will be discussed and contrasted. Chief Inspector Metzdorf knows from many years of experience what real police work looks like. Guests can listen intently, puzzle along and ask what they have always wanted to know: Is the pavement in their home town dangerous? How high is the clearance rate for murder cases? Are fictional crime stories realistic? And how does police work proceed in a real murder case?

Guests at this event can look forward to an entertaining and exciting encounter where fiction and reality meet.

Tickets for all events are available in advance for 10 euros at the municipal libraries in Lebenstedt and Salzgitter-Bad. To register in advance, call 05341 / 839-3434 or send an e-mail to stadtbibliothekstadt.salzgitterde Tickets at the box office cost 12 euros.
