Salzgitter

Pump track facility in Gebhardshagen goes live

With the pump track, Salzgitter is getting a new attraction that invites you to move with 'everything that has wheels'.

From Friday, December 12, sports enthusiasts will be able to use the pump track facility in the Gebhardshagen district.

In the summer, the competition design was discussed on site with representatives of the youth parliament, the advisory board for people with disabilities and local children and young people in July 2025. Representative and feasible adjustments were then made and the ground-breaking ceremony took place in September 2025. After a good three months of construction, the pump track facility is now complete. It is great that young people from Salzgitter supported the construction by helping with the marking work.

The rain shelters that are currently still missing do not prevent the track from being opened before the official opening, which is planned for spring next year.

All sports enthusiasts will be able to use the leisure facility with its undulating asphalt surface from tomorrow.

The pump track is divided into four areas: The green-marked pump track for children and the three blue-marked areas for older and/or advanced riders (large circuit, directional jumpline and pool/bowl area). The nature of the track makes it possible to build up speed through "pumping" movements of the body. Children, teenagers and adults can use the facility by bike, but also by skateboard, scooter or inline skates. The barrier-free facility can also be used by wheelchair users and children with motor or sensory impairments according to their abilities, particularly in the children's pump track area. Two barrier-free seating areas offer a high quality of stay. To the north, the adjacent footpath is secured by a flexible barrier. Helmets are compulsory when using the pump track facility. The conditions of use are shown on four identical signs.
