The animal health certificate is issued

a) for the entry of breeding and livestock animals into Germany from a third country (import), as well as
b) for the export of breeding and livestock animals from Germany to third countries (countries outside the European Union) (export)

It provides information about the general health status of a breeding or livestock animal.

The requirements for issuing an animal health certificate vary widely. Therefore, contact the relevant authority as early as possible. The authority can issue a health certificate only if all requirements are met.
