Seed library

We are taking part in the "Education - Sustainability - Library (BiNaBi)" campaign of the Lower Saxony Library Center and offer seeds for loan as part of this.

Salzgitter seed library

On Tuesday, April 2, 2024, the Salzgitter City Library will enter its third year with the seed library of the "Education - Sustainability - Library (BiNaBi)" campaign.

Discover the diversity of nature in the city library's seed library, lean back and browse through seed catalogs rather than books - the library not only offers knowledge to borrow, but also seeds for delicious fruit, fresh vegetables and colorful flowers to take home. "The seed library - i.e. borrowing seed packets - has been a huge success over the past two years. We are delighted that we can start this project again," says deputy head of specialist services Barbara Henning.

The seed library focuses on enjoyment and curiosity about historical vegetable varieties. No gardening knowledge is required. A total of 15 different seeds with names such as Red Marble, Norli and Miracle of Stuttgart were on offer. All varieties are easy to care for and require little space.
