With the Kunst- und Kreativschule program, the City of Salzgitter's Department of Culture would like to offer all interested parties an opportunity for children and young people to get to know and develop their creative skills.

At its meeting on 16.07.2014, the Salzgitter City Council approved the fee regulations for attending the Kunst- und Kreativschule Salzgitter. This was the official starting signal and an initial program was planned. A two-day painting course in December 2014 in the training workshop of the Salder Castle Municipal Museum was the first course actually held. As the two current classrooms in the Alte Feuerwache in Salzgitter-Lebenstedt were only moved into years later, the KuK was still a guest at various locations in the city, such as the Städtisches Museum and the Medienzentrum. The first successful KuK course was followed by many more different creative courses over the next few years.

Unfortunately, the coronavirus pandemic did not pass KuK by without restrictions. Classes had to be temporarily suspended twice due to the current legal situation. However, KuK always came back with new ideas and adapted offers as soon as possible. Most recently, the team resumed teaching in September 2021. The teachers, and of course the participants, have since held many more KuK courses with great joy and creativity. Unfortunately, however, the after-effects of the pandemic are still affecting opportunities and many courses that were successfully held in the early years can no longer be offered.

Nevertheless, KuK is using the experience of the past 10 years to continue to offer an attractive creative program. In order to have the greatest possible flexibility, the courses are now offered in quarterly sections.
