Rainwater utilization systems

The use of rainwater in areas where drinking water quality is not absolutely necessary is a fundamental measure to reduce drinking water consumption.

Water supply systems also include systems that are intended for the withdrawal or delivery of water that does not have the quality of water for human consumption and that are installed in the household in addition to the drinking water supply systems. The operator of such a system therefore has the option of using rainwater in the private sector, for example for flushing toilets, operating the washing machine or watering the garden.

Before commissioning the rainwater harvesting system, the operator must register the system with the public health department. The Environment Department will also grant a partial exemption from the obligation to use the public drinking water supply upon application.

We will be happy to answer any questions you may have on the subject of rainwater harvesting systems (contact below).
