The health department sees all children of a year group in the school entry examinations. It also sees all children who have an increased need for support. All aspects of child protection are a natural part of these examinations. If there are questions in this context that affect child protection issues, a direct discussion is sought with the legal guardians (if necessary also by the child protection specialist) in order to clarify these questions wherever possible. Child protection-related issues and anomalies are also regularly discussed with colleagues from the various professions in our field and further action is agreed.
