Treasure hunt in Salzgitter - the radio play

The book "Treasure Hunt in Salzgitter", written by Salzgitter author and doctor Ursula Wolter, was turned into a radio play at the beginning of 2018.

The radio play is a project of the Salzgitter health region. It was financially supported by the state of Lower Saxony, the Salzgitter Library Association and the children and family representative Ms. Sylvia Fiedler. Harald Baumgartner from the music school of the city of Salzgitter was instrumental in supporting the realization of the project.

The target audience for this radio play is children aged 6 and over.

The radio play can be purchased from the Salzgitter Citizens' Center for 3 euros or downloaded free of charge here.

"Developing the radio play was so important to us because we want to allay children's fears and reservations about doctors, clinics and preventive examinations at an early age," says the coordinator of the Salzgitter health region, Barbara Henning, about the project. In addition, the radio play aims to raiseawareness of the local healthcare system , particularly among children with a migration background.

"We will therefore be distributing this CD free of charge to children starting school from October 2018 during the health department's school entry examinations," she continued.

The story centers on four children who meet by chance. They actually only have one thing in common: they don't want to go on the "Treasure Hunt in Salzgitter" vacation activity.

Viola is annoyed that her friend didn't come. Julian doesn't want to be recognized by the librarian. Nesrin has to take part in order to learn German better. And for Marvin, it's all just silly children's stuff anyway, but still a last chance.

So the treasure hunt begins with trouble and arguments for the four of them. But then something happens that changes everything - and suddenly the children have to pull themselves together and want to win the treasure at all costs.

The special thing about the radio play is that it was made by young people, from the script to the voices. "After the film was so well received, we wanted to make the radio play," says 17-year-old Maximilian Giller, who realized the film project.

Sylvia Fiedler, Children and Families Officer, is very keen on this project: "Taking preventative action in the area of health promotion in a child-friendly way is very important to me. An audio book is a wonderful medium for children to impart knowledge in a playful way."

Ingrid Leidecker, Deputy Chairwoman of the Salzgitter Library Association, is enthusiastic: "It is impressive to see how disciplined and enthusiastic the pupils around the scriptwriters Tabea Kahlstatt and Maximilian Giller have worked on this project. As the city library plays a major role in this story, we were happy to provide support."

First City Councillor Christa Frenzel is also enthusiastic about this project: "A healthy upbringing also requires a happy, child-friendly environment - Salzgitter has this and this is shown in many ways by children for children in this radio play. "

The CD can be purchased from the Citizens' Center of the City of Salzgitter for 3 euros or downloaded free of charge from the website of the Health Department (see below).
