The focus is on advising, accompanying and supporting seriously ill and dying people and their relatives during the time of illness, farewell and mourning in order to enable a dignified and self-determined last phase of life.
The employees of the initiative work independently of religious and social affiliation and free of charge.
The end-of-life counselors are active
- in outpatient end-of-life care at home, in retirement and nursing homes and in the city's hospitals
- in bereavement counseling for adults
- in children's hospice work
- in bereavement counseling for children and young people
- providing support in inpatient hospices
- in a wide range of association work

- The Hospiz-Initiative Salzgitter e.V. offers an eight-month preparatory course that prepares you for assisting the dying.
- Group discussions in our open bereavement cafés in Salzgitter-Lebenstedt and Salzgitter-Thiede
- Individual grief counseling with relatives
- Closed bereavement groups
- Every second Wednesday from 10:00 - 12:00 a.m., hospice counselors are available to answer questions and provide information during their hospice consultation hours at the HELIOS Clinic in Salzgitter-Lebenstedt
