IFSG mail information system for the medical profession and pharmacies in special infection situations
In the event of special infection situations caused by pathogens as defined by the Infection Protection Act, it is advisable for the public health department to immediately exchange information with doctors in private practice, clinics and pharmacies.
Direct communication by e-mail considerably facilitates and shortens the provision of information. This has an impact on the response time of all those involved in the healthcare system. In this way, effective health protection for citizens, appropriate self-protection and a reliable level of information can be guaranteed as quickly as possible.
We expressly do not transmit any personal data in this IFSG-Mail quick information system.
This IFSG mail is only sent on an ad hoc basis.
Examples from the recent past:

Defense against infectious diseases
The public health department, to which these notifications must be submitted immediately, has the statutory task of preventing infectious diseases and communicable epidemic diseases. Based on the report, investigations are carried out, e.g. at contact persons, food businesses, kitchens, etc...
The aim of these investigations is to find the source of the infection and prevent the further spread of the disease. Unfortunately, many doctors today fail to report the disease correctly and promptly to the public health department due to ignorance or time pressure. This means that avoidable illnesses can be contracted by contact persons. Doctors who fail to comply with their reporting obligation must also expect legal action from the public health department and claims for damages from injured parties and health insurance companies.
The reports recorded in the statistics of the health department of the city of Salzgitter are therefore not a representation of the actual situation. Depending on the disease, the number of unreported cases is estimated to be up to 100 times higher than the number of reports. Even if no cases of a particular disease are registered, the existence of such diseases cannot be ruled out in reality. For many of these diseases, no curative treatment is possible and mortality is increased and/or permanent damage to health or disability is common.
This makes it all the more important to get vaccinated in good time as a personal precaution. You can ask your family doctor for individual advice on this. The public health department offers a yellow fever and travel vaccination service not only for people traveling abroad.
We have set up a free fax number for the legally required notifications in accordance with the Infection Protection Act (IfSG):
FreeCall: 0800 - 8394953
(We will pay the telephone charges within Germany).
You can reach a contact person at the public health department using the contact details below.
You can also send us general messages/inquiries without personal data by e-mail.
Any suspected case of the new corona virus must be reported immediately and by name to the health department of the city of Salzgitter!

Fight against multi-resistant germs - MRSA
The guide "Rational oral antibiotic therapy for adults in private practice" from the Lower Saxony State Health Office is aimed at doctors and is intended to help them decide for or against the use of antibiotics and in the selection of the appropriate antibiotic. All recommendations are based on current literature, the recommendations of the respective medical societies, the available national guidelines and the available local resistance data from the Antibiotic Resistance Monitoring in Lower Saxony (ARMIN).
