Salzgitter

Wolf and wolf advice

The wolf is a strictly protected species in Germany and has been reintroduced to Lower Saxony under its own steam.

Wolf

Humans are not prey for wolves, but they should be treated with respect - just like any other wild animal. They cause damage to livestock and wild animals, among other things.

The Lower Saxony Ministry of the Environment has appointed voluntary wolf advisors who, in addition to public relations work, data collection and verification of wolf observations, are also responsible for the initial safeguarding and assessment of attacks on livestock and wild animals. The wolf advisors also inform livestock owners about preventive measures to protect their animals from attacks.

The wolf office of the state of Lower Saxony can be contacted as follows: Tel. 0511/3034-3034, e-mail wolfsbueronlwkn.niedersachsende
