Ecoprofit
SRB Salzgitter is also the 1st Ökoprofit company in Salzgitter.
SRB Salzgitter will continue to participate in the Ökoprofit project of the state capital and the Hanover region in 2024/2025.
ÖKOPROFIT is a Europe-wide recognized award for companies that focus on economically sensible and ecologically compatible environmental concepts.
ÖKOPROFIT is a cooperation project between municipalities and companies. The project was developed in Graz. As part of Munich's Agenda 21, ÖKOPROFIT was implemented in a German municipality for the first time. More and more German municipalities are introducing the environmental program, no doubt due in part to its success in Munich.
The SRB began participating in ÖKOPROFIT in 2012 and was certified as an ÖKOPROFIT company for the first time in April 2013.
As part of the project, potential savings in the use of energy, water and operating resources were identified and environmental guidelines were defined for SRB Salzgitter.
The SRB had compiled a diverse catalog of measures to save energy and protect the climate. In addition to the optimization and renewal of lighting in offices, workshops, buildings and the depot and the optimization of energy consumption in the workshop, the focus is particularly on vehicle technology. Alternative drive technologies such as natural gas, hybrid and electric vehicles are being tested and fuel-saving driver training for professional drivers is being offered.
The SRB has also scored highly in terms of saving drinking water. Sweepers with water recovery systems are already in use and a cistern for using rainwater when sweeping is to be extended.
The SRB has installed a photovoltaic system at the Diebesstieg landfill site. The system on Diebesstieg has an output of 990 kWp and could supply around 200 four-person households with electricity.
When the new administration building was occupied, a new heating system was also put into operation, which heats the building and the service water using an environmentally friendly combination of geothermal and solar thermal energy. In addition, a photovoltaic system was installed on the roof, the output of which is mainly used by the company itself.
The SRB aims to continuously improve and further develop operational environmental protection and occupational health and safety. With the help of the knowledge gained through ÖKOPROFIT, the use of resources is optimized, the environmental awareness of the employees is sensitized and experiences are exchanged with other companies. The presentation of the environmental award also demonstrates the SRB's commitment to the environment to the outside world.
