State decides on new building

On July 16, the Lower Saxony Hospital Planning Committee will decide on the replacement building for the St. Elisabeth Hospital in Salzgitter-Bad.

St. Elisabeth Hospital in Salzgitter-Bad.

This is intended to create a modern medical health center. Together with the St. Vinzenz Hospital in Braunschweig, an organizational network will be formed: the administrations will be merged and synergies in medical services will be used.

The construction project has been positively examined by the Regional Finance Office (OFD) and recommended for implementation. The sponsor is financing unsubsidized areas such as parts of the kitchen, the chapel and obstetrics beds from its own funds.

According to the hospital, there is no longer any level compensation on the sloping entrances and exits and the stairs between the existing buildings and even transporting a plate of soup or patient beds poses problems for staff.

St. Elisabeth Hospital has been providing local medical care to the population of Salzgitter-Bad and the surrounding area for over 70 years. A new replacement building is therefore urgently needed. The funding application has been in various planning stages for more than ten years now.

Political decision-makers from all parties support the new replacement building and the Mayor of the city of Salzgitter, Frank Klingebiel, also considers the "inclusion of St. Elisabeth Hospital in the investment program of the state of Lower Saxony to be imperative", writes the hospital in a press release.

On Sunday, July 6, St. Elisabeth Hospital invites you to a prayer service for the new replacement building on the market square in Salzgitter-Bad at 1:00 pm.
