Together with city planning officer Michael Tacke from the city of Salzgitter, Dr. Wolram Zeie and Till Duchatsch from the project development company "Geritas Projekte" inserted a time capsule into the masonry.
Provost Joachim Kuklik said with a grin at the beginning of the event that his gift for the building project was the dry weather on the day of the ceremony. He gave the building and construction project his blessing and made it clear that he was delighted to have such a residential project in his parish.
A total of almost 60 guests, including those involved in the construction, Councillor Tacke and many interested parties, took part in the ceremony, which is intended to bring luck to the overall construction project and ensure its long existence. A metal time capsule was filled with the daily newspaper, the current plans and a set of coins and walled into the masonry of the future residential building.
The new barrier-free residential quarter with 41 apartments will be realized in three construction phases. The first floor of the first phase has already been completed. A project of this size takes some time to prepare, which is why planning has been underway for a year.
The first milestones have now been reached: demolition has been completed, the first construction phase has begun and the entire construction project has now been officially inaugurated with the laying of the foundation stone. By the end of 2017, modern condominiums will be built in three buildings very close to the city center.
