Salzgitter

Approval for industrial estate

On May 3, the city council of Braunschweig unanimously agreed to examine the feasibility of an inter-municipal commercial and industrial area between Braunschweig and Salzgitter.

Planned industrial estate.

This is to be built north of the A39 on the city boundary between the two regional centers.

The Braunschweig Council also decided on an addition: "The exclusion of settlements in connection with the planned processing and/or storage of nuclear waste in Schacht Konrad will be examined as part of the feasibility study."

The proposal for an examination was submitted jointly by Lord Mayors Frank Klingebiel and Ulrich Markurth in April. On June 15, the city parliament in Salzgitter will discuss the issue.

If it also agrees, a joint working group will be set up with members from both administrations.

Further information on the inter-municipal industrial estate can be found below.
