Salzgitter

Important sign for the location

The official ground-breaking ceremony for the third construction phase of the MAN logistics center in Salzgitter took place on May 3. The expansion by 60,000 square meters of warehouse space means further optimization of spare parts logistics.

Active at the ground-breaking ceremony in Salzgitter were - from left: Hilmar Albrecht (authorized signatory Goldbeck Group), Michael Tacke (Head of Construction of the City of Salzgitter), Ralf Kolshorn (Head of MAN Spare Parts Management), Elke Behmer-Geisler (Deputy Chairwoman of the Works Council MAN Salzgitter), Michael Ulverich (Head of MAN Production Truck), Jan Felix Beck (Head of MAN Logistics Center Salzgitter).

Above all, however, the expansion shows that the Salzgitter site will continue to play a major role as an international parts supplier for MAN in the future.

It is clear that the plant in the Harz foreland will not only play a major role in the future as an important center for the production and processing of components, but also as an international parts supplier for MAN.

Present at the ground-breaking ceremony were Michael Tacke, Head of Construction of the City of Salzgitter, Elke Behmer-Geisler, Deputy Chairwoman of the MAN Works Council in Salzgitter, Brigitte Runge from the Salzgitter-Peine branch of IG Metall, Ralf Kolshorn, Head of MAN Management, Michael Ulverich, Head of Truck Production, Dr. Thomas Rennemann, Head of the Production Plant and Jan Felix Beck, Head of the MAN Logistics Center Salzgitter.

Central warehouse for MAN spare parts logistics

By January 2017, the logistics center in Salzgitter will grow by a further 60,000 square meters to a total of 172,000 square meters of warehouse space thanks to the third construction phase.

In order to ensure a seamless transition of the business, the central spare parts business will be gradually relocated from Dachau to Salzgitter over the next six months in parallel with the construction work. Since its opening on March 12, 2011, the logistics center in Salzgitter has made an important contribution to MAN spare parts logistics.
