Salzgittersee to become even more attractive

Salzgittersee is a particularly valuable recreational area in the city and a highlight for citizens and visitors alike.

At 75 hectares, the largest lake in the region offers both a nature experience as well as a wide range of leisure activities and gastronomic facilities, making it a real unique selling point for the city and also easily accessible.

The Alliance for the Region and the Salzgitter Economic and Innovation Promotion Agency (WIS) have worked with a team of experts, architects and scientists from Ostfalia University and the city of Salzgitter to create a Salzgittersee concept.

Visionary ideas were developed, a further development of the lake in the areas of "play and sport", "sand and sun", "water and wind" and "city and river" could not only enhance the Salzgittersee leisure area, but also improve the reputation of the city as well as the purchasing power and attitude to life of its citizens. This is the assessment of the experts and now it is time to capture the mood.

"The administration has not yet taken a position or made a recommendation on this project," emphasizes Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel, "we first want to make this concept, which is significant in terms of urban policy and could undoubtedly provide important impetus, known, sound out the opportunities and risks and evaluate it".

The city council will ultimately have to decide on the type and scope of the project's implementation. As a first step, the concept will be presented to the local councils of the city of Salzgitter in the coming weeks.
