This year, for the fourth time, the open child and youth work team from the children's and youth centers (KJTs) of the municipal child and youth development department offered a large joint vacation event on the grounds of the Graffiti children's and youth center in the city park in Salzgitter-Lebenstedt.
In addition to numerous games, handicrafts and creative activities, the children were able to let off steam by playing ball games, dancing or running around. Little climbers scaled cola crates or balanced on the slackline, and roving reporters observed the action for the FETSZ newspaper.
The bouncy castle, the human table football and the Zorbball were just as popular with the children as the go-karting through the city park. Those who wanted to take it easy could also play chess or do handicrafts.
In the first week of the vacation adventure days, the focus was on the Middle Ages.
Costumes and swords were made by the children over the course of the week to present everything on the final day. On this day, the little ones could also fight with (rubber) swords as part of a rally, prove their dexterity in throwing games or dress up as a beautiful princess...
All these activities naturally made them hungry. Lunch together was just as much a part of it as chopping vegetables and cooking together. Bread was also baked over an open fire! Of course, the 20 or so employees from the children's and youth centers also helped with all the activities. The specialist service for children, youth and families also offered a bus transfer from the KJTs in Thiede, Bad and Gebhardshagen.
The children had a great week with a wide variety of activities, where boredom was a foreign word. All the girls and boys loved their own newspaper as a souvenir of a special summer experience.
The second week continued with the exciting motto "City, Country, River". All places are already fully booked.
The vacation adventure days are also part of the Salzgitter summer holiday program in 2017.
