The sports pool has been open again at the usual times since August.

The entire modernization and expansion concept is divided into two construction phases. In the first phase, which has already started, a new barrier-free indoor swimming pool with an attraction pool and four 25-metre lanes, a toddler area consisting of three pools and a slide, as well as a training pool with 150 square meters of water surface are being built.

Thanks to the installation of a moving floor, this can be used variably for different activities. It can be used as a non-swimmer's pool for swimming lessons and public swimming. The optimum water depth can also be set for water gymnastics courses, for example. Another feature of the new pool is the establishment of a bistro.

The second construction phase consists of the conversion of the remaining changing room wing and the renovation of the existing indoor swimming pool. This includes parts of the roof, the pool surround and, in particular, the showers, toilets and function rooms. The two existing collective changing rooms will be replaced by four new ones. This will provide pupils and club members with significantly better comfort than before.

The purpose of this phased approach is to keep the other construction phase in operation while one is being completed, so that swimming operations can continue uninterrupted - apart from short-term interruptions. The sports pool can continue to be used until the end of 2017.

The new water areas will be available from January 2018. This will be followed by the renovation of the existing indoor pool from January to November 2018, and the entire new pool with around 1,000 square meters of water surface will be available from December 2018.

With the completion of the new Stadtbad in Salzgitter-Lebenstedt, people from the region will have another opportunity for active and sporty leisure activities. The swimming clubs and schoolchildren in Salzgitter in particular will benefit from the expansion of the water areas.
