Secondary school auditoriums in Salzgitter-Bad and Am Fredenberg to be renovated

The city of Salzgitter will receive a total of around € 7.3 million in federal funding from the federal government's Municipal Investment Package II for the years 2018 to 2020 to finance school construction measures.

Following an inter-party discussion, Mayor Frank Klingebiel and the parliamentary groups have reached a broad consensus to use these additional federal funds to completely renovate the auditorium at Salzgitter-Bad Grammar School and the auditorium at Am Fredenberg Grammar School.

The estimated total investment sum for both investment measures amounts to around €8.4 million.

Klingebiel: "I fought for a long time at federal and state level to ensure that the financial weakness of a city is also taken into account as a criterion for the distribution of federal funds in addition to the number of pupils."

He continued: "This high level of federal funding will enable us to eliminate the renovation backlog in our schools, which has long been lamented by many, given our tight budget situation. I am particularly pleased about the broad political consensus that is emerging in the council for the implementation of these necessary renovation measures. This is a good signal for the school and cultural sector."
