Wooden sculptures in Thiede

The Thieder Lindenberg-West residential area has received wooden sculptures by artist Sundari Arlt, which have been installed at three locations along the central green space in the development area.

The presentation and inauguration of the wooden sculptures on the street An der Zwergenkuhle.

The sculptural wooden objects deal with the theme of dwarves. They refer to the old legend circulating in Thiede, according to which dwarves once lived in Lindenberg, which was already referred to in the street name "An der Zwergenkuhle". The works of art are intended to strengthen the residents' identification with their residential area and enhance the green space.

According to legend, the Thiede dwarves, who were known for their goldsmithing and silversmithing skills, lent the inhabitants of Thiede the finest silver plates and cups for large festivities. As none of the inhabitants were allowed to see the dwarves, they piled up the borrowed plates into huge stacks in front of the entrance to the dwarves' cave after the festivities.

The first sculpture at the entrance to the residential area is a woman standing on a globe, holding a dwarf's cap with a beard.

The playground in the middle of the green area is also enriched by wooden objects on the theme of dwarves. A toadstool table with two dwarf chairs and two king chairs invite you to linger and give the playground its own dwarf character.

At the exit of the green area to Thieder Lindenberg, three stacks of wooden plates and an information board will commemorate the legend of the Thieder dwarves.

The works of art have been erected by employees of the SRB. The artworks were funded as part of the green spaces project.
