Salzgitter

Partnership officially sealed

The Salzgitter City Library and the Salzgitter Library Association have signed a cooperation agreement, which confirms and intensifies their collaboration.

Those responsible are planning further joint projects in 2018.

For many years, Bibliotheksgesellschaft Salzgitter e.V. has supported the Salzgitter City Library with various events, such as organizing trips to book fairs, participating in the "Literary and Culinary" event trip and reading competitions.

The library society also provides grants for library equipment, events and projects to promote reading and media, such as the "Wortstark" fairytale project (also supported by the Lions Club Schloss Salder), the "More than 140 characters" project supported by the Konrad Foundation and the "Salty" writing project. A youth book week with the Rotary Club and the "Klasse(n) lesen!" project are also planned for 2018.

Maria Gröschler, Chairwoman of the Library Association, and Elke Ferfers, Head of the Education Department at the City of Salzgitter, emphasized that the signing of the agreement marks the continuation of 21 years of successful and trusting cooperation. In doing so, those responsible also wanted to reaffirm the cooperation and set an example for further joint projects.

Claudia Rietdorf, the new head of department of the city library since September, is also very pleased about the conclusion of this cooperation agreement and the trusting cooperation and support it establishes. The Salzgitter Library Association is a strong partner at the side of the city library.

For Maria Gröschler, Chairwoman of the Library Society, the City Library is an indispensable part of Salzgitter's educational and cultural landscape.

With its range of media, the Salzgitter City Library supports children, young people and adults, regardless of education, age and origin, in accessing knowledge, education and information for school, vocational training, further education and leisure activities. In this way, the city library ensures equal opportunities in access to sources of knowledge and information.
