It attracts a top-class field of participants to Salzgitter.
In cooperation with the Wolfenbüttel disc golf club Tee-Timers, Bäder, Sport und Freizeit Salzgitter GmbH (BSF) is offering a challenging course.
"After the successful premiere in 2018, the tournament will once again take place over two days and the modified format will attract more top players to Salzgitter," says Wolfgang Philippsen, Head of Division at BSF, who is looking forward to the anniversary edition.
Accordingly, the 72 starting places were fully booked within a short space of time. The players come from all over the northern hemisphere of Germany. Even the German champions from 2017 and 2018 have registered.
Defending champion Christian Plaue is not taking part. This will keep the streak going that no Islander has ever been able to defend their title. However, Elias Güldenhaupt (2017) and the reigning German champion Kevin Konsorr (2012) are at least two former participants. The third hot favorite is the 2017 German champion Jerome Braun from Potsdam. The fourth hot favorite is Benedikt Heiß, who finished third on the island last year and is now a member of the German national squad. "He would like to force a nomination for the World Team Cup with a win," says tournament director Andreas Martin, who is also responsible for the course.
There are 18 challenging baskets on the entire island area. The respective courses have a length of 68 to 230 meters. Two rounds will be played on Saturday, April 6, 2019, followed by the decisive third round on Sunday.
The circular route around the island can be used by visitors on the day of the event. However, the organizers ask that visitors stay on the circular route to avoid any unpleasant encounters with the targets. Public play on the normal 12-hole course is not possible until around 6 pm.
The first throw-off is at 9:30 am on Saturday, the second round starts at 2:30 pm.
The final round starts on Sunday at 8:40 am.
