Child day care in Salzgitter to be strengthened

Child day care as a family-oriented and flexible form of childcare is also an important pillar of early childhood education in Salzgitter.

Day care for children under the age of three in particular offers education, upbringing and care in small groups and with a constant caregiver. Child day care thus makes a contribution to the compatibility of family and career on an equal footing with child day care facilities.

In order to further develop and expand child day care in the city, Salzgitter is one of more than 40 locations nationwide participating in the federal program "ProKindertagespflege: Wo Bildung für die Kleinsten beginnt" (ProChild Day Care: Where Education for the Youngest Begins) launched by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ) in January of this year. The federal program provides the city of Salzgitter with funding of up to 150,000 euros per year from the federal government over the three-year term. This is supplemented by the city's own funds from its budget.

The main objectives of the funding program are the more extensive qualification and further training of childminders, the improvement of the working conditions of childminders as well as good cooperation in childcare, in particular between parents, childminders and the responsible specialist service, especially the family service of the city of Salzgitter.

In addition to training, the federal program stipulates the following topics for the project work: Recruitment and retention of specialist staff, promotion of specialist advice, substitute solutions in child day care, strengthening inclusive education and upbringing, promotion of cooperation with families, further development of remuneration for childcare and participation in a nationwide pool of experts to improve quality in child day care. To implement these diverse tasks, the Salzgitter project location provides a coordination office in the Family Service of the Children, Youth and Family Department.

One focus of the project work is the professional qualification of new childminders. Under the motto "Do you have some time for me? Become a childminder!", the Family Service of the City of Salzgitter is therefore promoting the opportunity to qualify as a childminder and become involved in early childhood education. Anyone interested in this responsible professional activity can obtain further information from the Family Service Office by calling 05341 / 839-4562 or sending an e-mail to familienservicestadt.salzgitterde.

The next basic qualification in cooperation with the Catholic Family Education Center Salzgitter and the Protestant Family Education Center Salzgitter starts on September 2. There are still places available!
