As soon as the markings on the roads "An der Erzbahn" and "Breslauer Straße" have been applied, the existing signs will be replaced by new traffic signs. The markings and the new signs will then indicate the new traffic routing. It is essential that pedestrians and cyclists are taken into account here. Due to the installation of a cycle lane and a crosswalk, it is essential to ensure that cyclists using the cycle lane have the right of way when making the new right turn from the ZOB.
The costs for the necessary marking and signage measures, including the costs for DIN-compliant lighting for the crosswalk, are estimated at EUR 20,000.
The new traffic routing:
- Breslauer Straße will have right of way. All currently permitted driving relationships at the An der Erzbahn / Breslauer Straße junction will also be possible in future.
- It will also be possible to turn left into the street "An der Erzbahn" from the direction of the city center/underpass.
- A crosswalk (illuminated in the dark) will be installed for crossing the street "An der Erzbahn". Cyclists will have right of way over a ford parallel to the crosswalk
- In consultation with the KVG, the lower traffic authority of the city of Salzgitter, the civil engineering and traffic department and the police, this new right-of-way regulation at the junction will be changed for a trial period of one year.
