Salzgitter

Discover heat leaks

During a "thermography night walk", interested parties can take a thermal imaging camera to selected buildings in Lebenstedt and Salzgitter-Bad to see how energy is lost in renovated and non-renovated buildings.

thermal imaging of a detached house

The Volkshochschule Salzgitter is once again organizing the "Thermography Night Walk" on Tuesday, 28 January, in Lebenstedt at the Volkshochschule, Thiestraße 26a, from 6 to 9 p.m. in cooperation with the Consumer Advice Centre of Lower Saxony and the Climate Protection Management of the City of Salzgitter.

After a short introduction, we will walk to selected buildings. Thermal images will be taken there to identify the energy weaknesses of buildings. In unrenovated buildings, only a third of the energy can be used to heat the house. Most of the energy is lost through walls, windows or floors. This is visible with a thermal imaging camera and can be seen by interested parties during the night walk.

The tour will be led by a certified energy consultant who will explain what has been seen and point out renovation options. The event is free of charge for participants. Prior registration is essential (www.vhs-Salzgitter.de) or by telephone on 05341/839-3604 or 839-2200. Further information is available from the City of Salzgitter's climate protection manager, Jan Holzenbecher (telephone: 05341/839-4141).

The "Night walks with thermography" are part of the city of Salzgitter's climate protection concept.
