The connecting path from Kattowitzer Straße to Salzgittersee to the north of the Helios Clinic must be closed for this purpose and cannot be used. Attention is drawn to the detour routes.
What is being done?
The asphalt path north of the Helios Clinic, which is around three meters wide and around 400 meters long, is an important connecting path to Salzgittersee. Last year, the Salzgitter City Council decided that this area should be made barrier-free. The path will be redesigned and made safer, better lit and thus upgraded.
The path, which is currently shared by pedestrians and cyclists, will be divided into a cycle path and a footpath. This will require the path to be widened to four meters.
Timeline for the widening of the lakeside path:
Since Monday, November 1, the following expansion work has begun, for which a closure of the path and the footpath area on Kattowitzer Straße is necessary.
- Extension of the path
- Creation of meadow areas
- Creating access points and seating areas (paved areas) on the hospital grounds
- Equipping the areas with seating and litter garbage cans
- Better illumination of the pathway (installation of new lights with LED technology)
- Renewal of the path surface
The work, which is expected to take two months, will be followed by the barrier-free expansion of the crossing of Kattowitzer Straße.
Detour routes:
Alternatively, there are two pedestrian paths to Salzgittersee during this time:
North: The extension of the lake path axis between Stromtal and Riesentrapp
South: The footpaths parallel to the Zum Salzgittersee road
These detour routes are shown on the construction fence on the Seeweg and on the Salzgitter city website.
There may be changes due to weather conditions.
