How do I exchange my driver's license if I was born between 1953 and 1958?
The mandatory exchange initially concerns citizens who still have gray or pink paper driving licenses and were born between 1953 and 1958. For this group, the driving license must be converted by 19.01.2022.
How do I do this?
Citizens who wish to have their driving license exchanged need to make an appointment at the Salzgitter car service park in Neißestraße. This appointment can be booked via the website of the city of Salzgitter (www.salzgitter.de, keyword "Online-Terminvergabe") or by telephone via the hotline 05341/839-3000.
The following documents must be brought along to the booked appointment:
-valid identity document (identity card, passport)
-current biometric photograph
-current driving license
-a fee of 25.30 euros (card payment is possible in the car service park)
-If the driver's license was not issued in Salzgitter: Request a copy of the driver's license card from the issuing authority before applying and have it sent to the driver's license office of the city of Salzgitter.
