The members of the association's future Executive Board were elected at the association meeting. The board is the body that will manage and oversee the association's fortunes in the future. Representatives on the board are now Kristina Ess (district of Wolfenbüttel), Evelin Wißmann (district of Hildesheim) and Stefan Behrens (district of Goslar) as well as Heinz Habenicht (city of Hildesheim) and Michael Buntfusz (city of Salzgitter).
Following the appointment of the board, Evelin Wißmann was unanimously elected as the new association chairman. The first district councillor from Hildesheim will thus take over the chairmanship of the board and will lead the association in the future, represent it externally and take care of the association's day-to-day business.
The founding of the Innerste Flood Protection Association has now been formally completed with the election of the board and the association's chairwoman. The foundation process officially began last year in April with the application to the Lower Saxony Water Management, Coastal Defence and Nature Conservation Agency (NLWKN) in Braunschweig. The establishment documents for the future association were then made available for public inspection from mid-August to mid-September. The so-called foundation negotiations then took place in October.
With the subsequent public announcement of the association's statutes in the Ministerial Gazette in November of last year, the association was officially founded.
