The impressive performances by the children and the activities in the city library rounded off the event.

Stefan Klein, First Mayor of the city of Salzgitter, welcomed the guests on behalf of the city of Salzgitter and congratulated the family center teams on this small anniversary. "Family centers are important for the families in Salzgitter. I would like to thank you for your work and your commitment," he said.

The ten steles are beautiful illustrative examples of the focal points in the family centers, the parents and the children. Together with the Braunschweig artist Wolf Menzel, the topics that are important to those involved locally, such as integration or exercise, were painted on the steles. The approximately 1.80 meter tall steles will therefore be given a permanent place in the family centers.

Katja Kepp, specialist coordinator of the family centers, looked back on the year 2012, when five daycare centers set out to become family centers. Today, there are ten family centers that offer parents and their children early information, advice, care and education. This makes the family centers an important point of contact for parents and children. In addition, the family centers work closely with each other and maintain a regular exchange.

"Despite the pandemic, many offers took place digitally and were well received, even if everyone is now happy that the events and meetings can take place in person again," says Sandra Sorrentino, the city's daycare center advisor.

All participants and guests were just as happy about the steles as they were about the film that the city of Salzgitter's Medienzentrum made about the family centers and which can be viewed online on the city of Salzgitter's website.
