Salzgitter

Commitment to Neuwerk honored

30 volunteers accepted the invitation from the city of Salzgitter to a "thank you" evening at the Forellenhof youth culture workshop. The volunteers at Neuwerk are involved in areas such as cooking/housekeeping and construction/maintenance.

Stefan Klein, First Mayor of the city of Salzgitter, thanked the volunteers for their special commitment to the education and youth camp. He talked about his own time as a volunteer and emphasized how important the youth and education camp is as a figurehead for Salzgitter. He also congratulated the Neuwerk youth camp support association on its 25th anniversary.

Dr. Roswitha Krum, the first chairwoman of the Neuwerk Youth Camp Development Association, joined in thanking the volunteers. She then presented the work and past achievements of the Neuwerk Youth and Education Camp Sponsors' Association. The first chairwoman explained that, for example, the new log cabins had been purchased and the sanitary, shower and toilet areas had been renovated. She hopes that other interested parties will become involved in Neuwerk.

Bernadeta Kocot-Miczka, Head of the Youth and Democracy Education Team in the Municipal Child and Youth Development Department, thanked the volunteers with the new brochure "Youth and Education Camp of the City of Salzgitter - 1961-2023: Neuwerk yesterday and today".

The current team of employees for the Neuwerk youth and education camp then introduced themselves.

The event was accompanied musically by two Neuwerk-related guitar songs sung by Siegfried Heilmann, also a member of the Neuwerk e.V. support association.
