Salzgitter

Construction of grave monuments

The restoration work took around three months: at the end of June, the Sievers family gravestones in the Vöppstedt cemetery were rebuilt.

Adrian Sievers watches Andreas Müller erect the grave crosses.

Adrian Sievers commissioned the metal restorer Kira Darge from Uetze to restore the three grave crosses. The metal parts were dismantled and expertly restored in the restoration workshop. The stone base and the stone cross were cleaned on site and prepared for re-erection.

Care was taken to ensure that the traces of the past were preserved in order to make the great age of the crosses visible

Christoph Lücke, monument conservationist for the city of Salzgitter, was impressed by the result: "The restoration was a great success. The Sievers family has committed itself to protecting and preserving a part of the diverse monument landscape in Salzgitter."

It was important to Adrian Sievers to preserve this traditional site in Salzgitter-Bad and to help preserve the cemetery, which is now used as a park, for the general public.
