Adjustments to the installation modules in the Lebenstedt city center

Many visitors to the Lebenstedt city center will have noticed the so-called pop-up elements in recent weeks, which were set up by the city administration and Wirtschafts- und Innovationsförderung Salzgitter GmbH (WIS) as part of the federal funding program "Sustainable inner cities and centers".

Most recently, a small climbing wall in front of the BraWo-Carree and a photo exhibition in front of the Café Carree were added.

Now the piano in front of the Stadtpassage has to be dismantled earlier than planned. Due to complaints about the background noise from local businesses, the piano was supposed to be moved to a new location on June 13. Unfortunately, an unknown person has tried to set fire to the piano in the meantime. Due to safety concerns, the response is now to dismantle it.

The premature dismantling is particularly unfortunate because the freely accessible instrument was particularly popular with children. The cultural-educational integration project "Heimat Salzgitter" was therefore already in the middle of planning a children's music competition on the piano.

Jan Erik Bohling, Head of the Economic Affairs Department, is delighted with the positive response from citizens regarding the pop-up modules that have been set up bit by bit: "The equipment, seating, herbs, sports equipment and the piano are intended to enliven and enrich the city centers. This purpose is obviously completely alien to the unknown person who ultimately wanted to vandalize the piano. A criminal complaint has already been filed by the economic development agency."
