Some wings of the building have already been renovated in recent years. The refurbishment of wings 1 - 3 is now largely complete. Only minor refurbishment and renovation work has been carried out in "Tower 0" to date. Due to the age of the building and the inadequate thermal quality of the building envelope, a complete refurbishment of this building is urgently required.

The committee was informed about the status report on the purchase program in the Salzgitter-Watenstedt district by the responsible project company for the second half of 2023.

The city parliament also decided to build barrier-free access (bathing jetties) to the water on the north, west and east shores of Salzgittersee. In addition, the access routes from the respective parking lots are to be made barrier-free. A corresponding draft is to be submitted to the relevant specialist committees before a decision is made by the Council.
