Among other things, the following resolutions were passed by the Salzgitter City Council:
- Unanimous election of a new arbitrator for the arbitration district 3 of the city of Salzgitter,
- Unanimous appointment of an honorary civil servant (local fire chief of the Ringelheim local fire department),
- The amendment of the "Guideline for the promotion of private modernization and repair measures on buildings and measures to improve the residential environment within the redevelopment areas of the city of Salzgitter". The members of the Council also unanimously approved this draft resolution.
- The extension of Flexo services in Salzgitter-Bad and Salzgitter-Thiede was also unanimously approved.
The committee was informed about the extension of the refugee allocation limit for Salzgitter. At the urgent request of Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel, the state of Lower Saxony had already limited the allocation to a maximum of 200 people for the period from 01.10.2023 to 30.09.2024 by decree dated 19.09.2023 due to Salzgitter's special situation, which is unique in the state. On 21.08.2024, Mayor Klingebiel wrote to the Minister of the Interior Daniela Behrens again and asked for the allocation limit to be extended, as the dramatic situation in Salzgitter, particularly in the social and education systems, has not eased but rather worsened. In mid-October, following a variety of intensive discussions, Behrens granted the request and extended the limit on the allocation of refugees to Salzgitter to a maximum of 200 people until September 30, 2025.
The city parliament was also informed that the municipal management company (SRB) will erect an overview board at a suitable location on Salzgittersee in front of the Inselbrücke bridge by the end of the year to provide orientation and information about the paths and leisure facilities on Salzgittersee.
Mayor Frank Klingbiel also presented the newly developed concept "Salzgitter - safe and clean 2.0" as part of a press release. The medium and long-term aim is to sustainably improve safety and cleanliness in the city area through prevention measures, more controls and higher fines.
