However, only 2 cameras are currently being procured for these 6 locations, which are used alternately at these locations. It is therefore not possible for road users to see at which locations the flow of traffic is currently being monitored:
1. SZ-Lebenstedt: Ludwig-Erhard-Straße near SZ-Engelnstedt
2. SZ-Lebenstedt: Willy-Brandt-Straße
3. SZ-Bad: Nord-Süd-Straße between fire station II and Porschestraße
4th SZ-Lebenstedt: Westfalenstraße/near Reppnersche Bucht
5. SZ-Thiede: Frankfurter Straße/near the An der Zwergenkuhle development area
6. SZ-Bad: Braunschweiger Straße/near Kniestedter church
Installations 1-5 will be erected this week. Installation 6 is expected to be erected in spring 2025.
The technical installation and acceptance of systems 1, 3 and 4 will take place in week 48. Actual commissioning will then take place shortly afterwards.
The locations were selected in consultation between the police and the lower road traffic authority, with the involvement of the Salzgitter City Council. The criteria were traffic safety-related considerations (traffic accidents and experience from semi-stationary speed monitoring at the respective locations).
Apart from the planned speed monitoring systems mentioned above, the following systems are currently in operation:
1. SZ-Lebenstedt, Industriestraße Mitte/Hehe Friedhof
2. SZ-Lebenstedt, Kattowitzer Straße, near Römerbad
3. SZ-Lebenstedt, Kattowitzer Straße, level with An der Windmühle
4. north-south road, Erzwäsche junction
The system at the B248/Upener junction is currently not in operation.
