How can I participate?
The survey is aimed at everyone, i.e. both readers and people who do not (yet) use the city library's services.
The online survey can be completed on the website https://de.sentobib.eu/2363 (opens in a new tab). It is anonymous and takes about ten minutes.
It can be accessed both via this link and via a QR code on posters, which can also be seen here on the left. It is only conducted online. The survey system is designed in such a way that participation is accessible via computer, tablet or smartphone and the like.
What is the aim of the survey?
The survey is about how readers and visitors rate the services provided by the city library, how they rate the facilities, what they like and what might be missing.
The city library also hopes to gain insight into the profile of users, their preferences and their motivation to make use of the services. "In short, we want to know what we do well and where we can improve," says Sylvia Fiedler, Head of the City Library, summarizing the objective.
Take part in the competition by participating in the survey and save a piece of rainforest
But participants can also benefit from the survey and do something good in addition to answering the questions. For every completed survey, the organization "World Land Trust" saves one square metre of endangered rainforest from disappearing. What's more, you can win one of four trips. The survey system randomly selects the winners as they complete the survey. At the end of the survey, the people who have been chosen as winners will see a unique code with a message that makes it possible to contact them.
"We are now hoping for a lot of attention for the survey, which can be accessed via numerous channels, such as here on the Salzgitter city website and the city library website www.salzgitter.de/stadtbibliothek-salzgitter (opens in a new tab). We are using posters, banners and book inserts to encourage people to take part in the survey. The more people express their opinion, the more meaningful the results will be. Of course, we are very excited about them and will report on them," says Sylvia Fiedler, head of the city library, looking ahead.
What or who is "Sentobib"?
In 2024, the European audience research project "Sentobib" offered an easily accessible tool for scientific data collection and analysis for German libraries. "Using this offers us as a municipal library the opportunity to collect relevant data that will help us to make our work even more target group-specific and effective," says Fiedler, explaining the reasons for participating in the project. This independent research is being organized in Germany with the support of the University of Hildesheim and the DBV (German Library Association). The study will result in a comprehensive research report with practically applicable results for the library.
