At the invitation of the children, youth and family department of the city of Salzgitter, the "SehnSucht" theater from Schleswig-Holstein was a guest at the Kulturscheune in Lebenstedt with the addiction prevention play "Wilde Panther, Keks!".
The youth and democracy education team of the municipal specialist service came up with the idea of addressing the topic of drugs and addiction in a vivid way and inviting secondary schools to the addiction prevention play. IGS Salzgitter, Gymnasium am Fredenberg, Hauptschule am Fredenberg and Emil-Langen-Realschule agreed to take part.
The pupils, together with their head teachers, teachers and school social workers, experienced a performance that was also a successful prevention premiere for everyone involved.
The story: "Max is at the end of his rope; he stumbles through the rows of spectators onto the stage, where five anarchist angels are waiting for him. Drunk on a cocktail of pills and alcohol, he suddenly finds himself standing in front of these five angels at the entrance to heaven. These strange figures know more about his life than he would like. A turbulent and sensitive story takes its course. Max has a problem with holes. He fills them, first with jelly babies, later with alcohol and pills. For Max, it's always the others' fault."
The "SehnSucht" theater team vividly and sensitively conveyed preventative messages for schoolchildren. After the performance, they were able to ask their questions and discuss them with the team. Are the parents really to blame when Max takes drugs? Why does his girlfriend break up with Max and no longer wants anything to do with him? The pupils pondered, exchanged ideas and took away many answers and insights.
On the following two days, addiction prevention workshops were held at the participating schools. The director of the play, Fred Buchalski, took up the content of the play and expanded on it in discussions with the pupils.
