Hans Manhart, art mediator from Bad Harzburg, introduces the exhibition.
Under the title "Retrospective", Wolfgang Spittler is showing a cross-section of his artistic work. Oil paintings and woodcuts form the main focus, but drawings and sculptures are also on display. The motifs are varied: portraits, still lifes, landscapes, people making music.
The exhibition focuses on paintings from a series with biblical scenes from the Old Testament. It is an existential view of man with his conflicts, fears and guilt. These are stories that also serve the artist Wolfgang Spittler to describe and reflect on our existence today.
