Risk groups and STIKO recommendations
The STIKO recommends the following risk groups in particular to be vaccinated against influenza and COVID-19:
- Older people: People aged 60 and over are particularly at risk of suffering severe courses of both influenza and COVID-19 infection. The vaccinations offer effective protection.
- People with chronic illnesses: People with pre-existing conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, respiratory disease or a weakened immune system should urgently get vaccinated.
- Pregnant women: Pregnant women have an increased risk of complications from flu or COVID-19 infection. Vaccination protects both the mother and the unborn child.
- Residents and employees of care facilities: This group is exposed to an increased risk of infection due to the close community and constant contact with many people. Vaccinations are particularly important here to prevent outbreaks.
- Healthcare staff: Medical staff and carers should be vaccinated to protect themselves and their patients.
Procedure and information
Experienced medical staff will carry out the vaccinations on site. Doctors will provide information and be available to answer any further questions. Please bring your health card and vaccination certificate. No prior registration is required for the vaccination. Depending on demand, waiting times may be unavoidable.
You can decide whether you want to receive both vaccinations on the same day. If you only want to receive one vaccination, you must keep a vaccination interval of 14 days between the two vaccinations.
Contact person
The contact person for questions about the flu and COVID-19 vaccination campaigns is doctor Athanassia Moudiou from the Salzgitter City Health Department, Paracelsusstraße 1-9, in Salzgitter-Bad. She can be contacted on 05341 / 839-2229 or by email at gesundheitstadt.salzgitterde
