Despite the heat with temperatures of around 33 degrees, around 250 visitors got active at the Family Olympics organized by the nine family centers in the city of Salzgitter!

Ten sporting stations such as limbo dancing, long jump, sprint and a scooter course were set up at the stadium on Salzgittersee. There was something for every age group. All generations were invited and many visitors, young and old, took part despite the heat and had great fun being active.

The oversized soccer dartboard and the bouncy castle (provided by AOK Niedersachsen) were also very popular.

How good that the culinary offerings were varied and there was plenty to choose from for refreshment and cooling down.

Tim Simon, Head of Family Services for the City of Salzgitter, was delighted with the response: "Despite the heat, all the guests enjoyed an all-round successful festival with a varied program and smooth organization." He particularly praised the good cooperation between all nine family centers and thanked the dedicated helpers and supporters.

Conclusion: A wonderful day of activity and encounters, even if the extreme heat was a sporting challenge. Many people got talking and experienced a community in the stadium that will be repeated.

A big participatory concert "Family centers, we sing!" is being planned for next year, which will hopefully take place when the temperatures are not so high.
