The special exhibition was designed by the Stadt- und Industriemuseum Rüsselsheim and supplemented by the Schloss Salder museum team to include aspects of Salzgitter.
The museum staff have added further program items for adults and children to the exhibition:
Candle workshop for adults
There is a creative workshop for adults: On Saturday, March 15, at 2 p.m., there will be a candle workshop at the museum. Participants will learn how to dissolve and process leftover wax or how the wick gets into the candle. Other candle-related secrets will also be revealed. They will make their own candles from wax in cardboard or glass containers. The workshop lasts 2.5 hours.
Participation is free of charge, except for the materials, which cost 3.50 euros per candle created. Instead of a participation fee, donations are requested for the Förderverein Schloss Salder.
The number of participants is limited. Please register at museumstadt.salzgitterde or call 05341 / 839-4618 or -4622.
Craft activity for children
There is an Easter vacation offer for children: four days of creative crafts on the theme of "fire department". It is aimed at children aged six to 12. They will make funny little puffing fire dragons and fire engines out of egg cartons. The dates are from 1 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8; Thursday, April 10; Tuesday, April 15 and Thursday, April 17.
Participation is free and the number of participants is limited; an adult is also required.
Registration is requested at museumstadt.salzgitterde or by calling 05341 / 839-4618 or -4622.
But these two days are not the only time you can visit the exhibition and experience something special:
On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, younger guests in particular are invited to take part in fire experiments in the exhibition at 11.30 am, 2 pm and 3.30 pm. Participation is free, the number of places is limited. Pre-registration is not possible.
Additional museum educational offers for children's groups and school classes also provide a special insight into the exhibition.
Registrations and inquiries for guided tours of the exhibition can be made at the Salder Castle Municipal Museum by e-mail museumstadt.salzgitterde and by telephone on 05341 / 839-4618.
