Since the start of this auction format in 2012, this is now the 12th lost property auction to be held via the Internet.
All items are lost and found handed in to the City of Salzgitter's lost and found office and have been stored there for more than 6 months.
The diverse and numerous items offered by the City of Salzgitter can already be viewed:
Once again this year, there is a large selection of interesting items such as bicycles, smartphones and jewelry. The items on offer can only be viewed via the preview list until the auction starts on 05.06.2025 at the above Internet address. It is not possible to view the items in person before or during the entire auction. The internet platform also offers the option of placing items on a watch list after registration so that you do not miss out on how high the desired item is being traded and how many people are already interested in it. More than 100 items are offered in total.
The website uses a type of auction in which the selling price of the respective item falls continuously from a fixed starting price at short intervals, for example by one cent every minute. Bidders can simultaneously submit purchase bids, which must be higher than the previous ones. If the falling selling price and the submitted purchase bid match, the item is sold immediately. A "buy it now" is therefore possible at any time from the start of the auction at the fixed starting price. After a bid has been placed, the time at which the self-set maximum price is reached is displayed immediately, so that most auctions will not last the full auction duration of 10 days.
Most auctioned items, especially bicycles and bulky items, can only be collected from the Small Town Hall in Salzgitter-Bad, Marktplatz 11, by prior appointment. Small items such as smartphones and jewelry can also be collected from the BürgerCenter in the town hall in Salzgitter-Lebenstedt after the end of the auction by prior appointment only. Small items can also be shipped in individual cases. Questions can be answered by calling 05341/839-3823.
