Salzgitter

Exhibition Gunther Fritz: "NEBENBEI"

Gunther Fritz is exhibiting his paintings in the small gallery in the Tillyhaus in Salzgitter-Bad under the title "NEBENBEI". The salzgitter-gruppe and the Städtische Kunstsammlungen invite interested parties to the exhibition opening on Tuesday, May 13, at 7 pm.

For Gunther Fritz, painting is "a process. Protocols of the inside, turned outwards."

Hans Manhart, art mediator from Bad Harzburg, introduces the exhibition.

The content of Gunther Fritz's paintings essentially relates to the theme of searching for traces in the past and present. An imaginary bridge is built from the present working process to inwardness, a dialog with oneself, but at the same time also a mental image of many. Sensory impressions of the outer world alternate with the unconscious and express themselves in a pictorial way.

The future or the uncertain are expressed in colored surfaces from which the content can emerge and then take shape. According to the painter, a picture can be grasped as a whole, but when viewed over a longer period of time, individual elements attract attention and images emerge in the pictures.

"Just as a poet writes down his thoughts or a musician invents a melody, my works are created as personal protocols, my state of mind, which is also a reflection of society," says Gunther Fritz.

Gunther Fritz was born in Salzgitter, studied fine art at the Braunschweig University of Art (HBK) under Prof. Sartorius and Prof. Voigt, received the Rudolf Wilke Prize of the City of Braunschweig in 1976, was a master student of Prof. Voigt in 1978 and has been working as an artist ever since. Gunther Fritz exhibits nationwide and has been a member of the salzgitter-gruppe since 1968.
