As part of the Integrated Urban Development Concept (ISEK), which strategically prepares the city-wide and district-related urban development for the city of Salzgitter, citizens are invited to actively participate in an online survey. The focus of the ISEK 2025 update is on further developments in the urban renewal areas in Lebenstedt, Thiede and Salzgitter-Bad.
Existing measures are to be reviewed and, if necessary, adapted to new requirements. At the same time, new potential focus areas for urban development will be examined. The three key topics for the city as a whole, "Transformation of Salzgitter as an industrial location", the further implementation of the "Child and family-friendly learning city" strategy and the development of green and open spaces, particularly with regard to the measures required to adapt to the effects of climate change, are also of great importance.
How can citizens get involved?
At the heart of the update is a broad-based participation process, including in the form of an online survey on the City of Salzgitter's website. An online participation platform will be available on the city's website www.salzgitter.de/isek2025 (opens in a new tab) until August 31, 2025. There, citizens can share their comments and suggestions on an interactive city map - easily and without registration. Further information on the ISEK 2025 update can also be found here.
In addition, district workshops are planned in Lebenstedt, Thiede, Gebhardshagen and Salzgitter-Bad in the fall of 2025. Here, interested parties can help plan, discuss and contribute their perspectives directly on site. The Lebenstedt district workshop will look at the districts in the north and northwest of the city. In the Thiede district workshop, the focus is on the north-east and east districts. In the Gebhardshagen district workshop, the districts of the West and South-East localities are considered and in the Salzgitter-Bad district workshop, the districts of the South locality are considered. The ISEK is therefore an important guideline for action and a building block for various urban planning processes. These include the land use plan, the traffic development plan, the social space analysis and other urban concepts.
