The update focuses on developments in the urban renewal areas. The key issues for the city as a whole, "Transformation of Salzgitter as an industrial location", the further implementation of the "Child and family-friendly learning city" strategy and the development of green and open spaces, are also of great importance.
Citizens help shape the future
The ISEK forms the overarching framework for all future city-wide and district-related planning. The aim is to involve the population in the planning process. The online participation, which took place from June to August 2025, met with great interest. Over 2,200 participants submitted 443 ideas, which were rated more than 5,200 times.
District workshops in November 2025
The next step in the participation process will follow in November 2025: in four district workshops, citizens will once again have the opportunity to contribute their ideas - this time in face-to-face discussions on site. Together with experts, the commissioned PLANUNGSGRUPPE STADTBÜRO and the administration, the aim is to assess the current situation, develop future prospects and formulate concrete measures for the key areas of urban development.
The workshops take place in a relaxed atmosphere and offer space for discussions and creative suggestions. Registration is not required.

- Salzgitter-Bad district workshop: November 12, 2025, 6 to 8 p.m., Kniestedter Herrenhaus, Braunschweiger Straße 137A (consideration of the districts in the south: Bad, Gitter, Groß Mahner, Hohenrode, Ringelheim)
